Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

The Sarnia Police Service (SPS) has made an arrest in connection to a bank robbery.

On December 18, 2023, a CIBC Branch located on London Road in Sarnia was robbed by a lone male suspect, who entered the establishment, and demanded cash. No weapon was seen during this robbery. The male suspect was wearing a dark hoodie pulled up high and had a mask partially covering his face.

Members of the Sarnia Police Service located the suspect who was arrested without incident a short time later.

Forest JARDINE (29) of Sarnia has been charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Disguise with intent
  • Fail to comply with probation

At the time of his arrest, Jardine had outstanding warrants for:

  • Fraud under $5000
  • Possession of a debit card obtained by crime
  • Theft under $5000 x2
  • Use property (debit card) with intent
  • Fail to comply with probation

Jardine has been remanded into custody with a court date in January 2024.

The Sarnia Police Service (SPS) has developed the following information to help you ensure you know what to do during a robbery and to what to do after one has occurred. 

In the Event of a Robbery

  • Do not do anything to provoke the suspect.
  • Call 9-1-1 as soon as it is safe to do so.
  • Lock the door and close the business immediately after the suspect leaves.
  • Do not let people walk over the area where the suspect travelled.
  • Do not touch or clean up anything that was disturbed.
  • Remain calm and try to remember what the suspect touched, whether they were wearing gloves, and which direction they fled.
