Suspicious Person

The Sarnia Police Service is investigating a suspicious person call in the rural portion of the city.

At about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday June 16, 2015 residents of a home in the area of Telfer Sideroad and London Line were awakened by a loud noise. When they went to investigate they observed a male in the front yard armed with what they described as a long-gun. The man is described as just under six feet tall, slim build and a scruffy unshaven face.

They resident called police who checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Police are advising residents to report any suspicious activity.

Missing Female to Locate

The Sarnia Police Service is appealing to the public to assist them in locating a missing female.

Katherine SPERO, age 50 years, has not been seen since June 6, 2015 .Her vehicle, a 2006 white Honda Civic, was located at the south end of Indian Road on June 9, 2015.

It appears she had a telephone conversation with her employer on June 12, 2015.

She is described as Native, five feet nine inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. She has shoulder length unkempt curly hair. No clothing description is available.

Cyclist Stop Leads to Arrest

On Jun 13, 2015 a Sarnia Police officer was patrolling the area of Davis St and Stuart St in The City of Sarnia when the officer observed a male party riding a bicycle commit a number of Highway Traffic Act offences.

The 27 year old male was subsequently stopped and secondary to further investigation it was determined that the male was allegedly in possession of a stolen bicycle. Upon arrest the man was searched and he was found to be in possession of what was believed to be crystal methamphetamine. Also on the suspect’s person, the officer located a set of brass knuckles.

The man was therefore charged with possession of stolen property under $5000, Possession of a controlled substance, possession of a prohibited weapon and for breaching his probation.

The man was held for a bail hearing.

Campbell Street Assault

On Saturday June 13, 2015 at about 2:30 a.m. four security staff from a drinking establishment on Campbell Street were confronted by a man with a knife.

The four security staff had initially investigated a disturbance and were speaking to someone who had been assaulted by two males. One of the suspect males returned brandishing a knife and began threatening the security staff. An unknown person then ran towards the suspect and pepper sprayed him. As police arrived the suspect fled on foot but was located and arrested a short time later.

The 23 year old suspect who is from Sarnia was held for a bail hearing and is charged with possession of a weapon, four counts of assault with a weapon and four counts of uttering threats.

Update Alice St Stabbing

Update: Alice Street Stabbing

An arrest warrant has been issued for Jamie Wells, a 37 year old Sarnia man. Wells is charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon relating to a stabbing incident on Alice Street on June 10, 2015.

If Wells is observed, do not approach him. Call 911 to report the sighting.

The 26 year old male victim remains in hospital in stable condition.

Stabbing Investigated

Police are investigating a stabbing that took place at an address on Alice Street Wednesday June, 10 2015 around 11:00 p.m.

The 26 year old male victim and the 37 year old suspect were involved in a verbal argument when the suspect stabbed the victim. The victim was transported to Bluewater Health then later transported to a London hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition. The two people involved were known to each other.

On Thursday June 11, 2015 just before 11:00 a.m. a Sarnia Police officer spotted the suspect in Germain Park and a foot chase took place in the area. Police were unable to apprehend the suspect.

Sarnia Police Criminal Investigations officers are in the process of obtaining a warrant for the suspect’s arrest.

4th Annual One Run

On Friday June 12, 2015 the 4th Annual One Run from Sarnia to London, Ontario will be taking place to help raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Research.

Teresa Carriere along with fellow runners including members of the Sarnia Police Service will be making their way from the Sarnia Police Service Headquarters and then travelling down Exmouth St. to London Line out to Highway 21 and then to Confederation Line to Strathroy. The runners will continue on Ergremont Rd through Middlesex County and into London ending at John Paul High School located at Highbury and Oxford St.

Please be advised that there will be traffic delays along this route and we ask that people take this into consideration and be safe around the runners. There will be police escorts to help along the route provided by Sarnia and London Police Services.
