The Sarnia Police Auction will be held on Tuesday May 5, 2015. This is the third year the auction will be “Online Only”. The police service has teamed up with www.YOUCANBID.CA and Vanklaveren Auctions Incorporated. The featured “on line” auction will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 starting at 8 AM and closing at 8 PM on the same day.

You can visit the auction site beforehand to view featured items at 5283 London Line in Wyoming, Ontario, between Reece’s Corners and Forest Road. Watch for the signs. Previews will take place on Monday, May 4, 2015 from 3 PM to 6 PM. To pick up and make payment for purchased items after the auction; attend the above mentioned location on Wednesday May 6, 2015 between 12 PM and 6 PM.

MVC Confederation and Trudeau

The Sarnia Police Service Traffic Branch continues to investigate a motor vehicle collision that occurred around 2:30 p.m. today at Confederation and Trudeau. A brown Jeep turned from Trudeau to travel east on Confederation Street. The Jeep side swiped a white Buick Century also travelling east on Confederation in the left lane. After stopping briefly, the driver of the Jeep departed the scene.

There were no injuries as a result of the collision.

Missing Person Investigation Concludes

In December 2014, the Sarnia Police Service issued a media release about a missing person investigation. Donald Feddes had not been seen or heard from in two years. Police had been investigating the incident since November 2013.

Today, Donald Feddes was observed and has since been positively identified, alive and well, in the GTA. Feddes’ family has been notified of the development.

The Sarnia Police Service is thankful this investigation ended on a very positive note.

Update: Suspect Arrested

Sarnia Police Service has arrested the male wanted in connection to the August 25, 2014 hit and run collision.

Thomas Craig Little was taken into custody just before 1:00 p.m. today without incident.

Update: Suspect Sought In August 2014 Collision

The Sarnia Police Service is attempting to locate a 38 year old man wanted in relation to a collision that took place August 25, 2014.

The man is alleged to have been operating a vehicle that struck a cyclist around 11:15 p.m. on August 25, 2014 at Bright Street and Russell Street. The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene. The cyclist was assisted by people who heard the collision and he was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The vehicle involved was located in Lambton County several days later. After an extensive investigation by the Sarnia Police Service Traffic Branch a warrant has been issued for Thomas Craig LITTLE aged 38 years from Sarnia. Little faces charges including Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm, Fail to Stop at A Collision, Obstruction and Public Mischief.

Suspect to Identify

Sarnia Police are releasing surveillance video and a photo in an attempt to identify a suspect involved in break and enters.

On Friday April 10, 2015 at approximately 2:20 a.m. the suspect is seen in the video at a business in the 100 block of Campbell Street. The suspect uses bolt cutters to cut the lock on the shed. It is still unsure if anything was taken.

On Monday April 13, 2015 surveillance video from the same business shows a suspect disabling the camera. Approximately two hours after the camera was disabled officers were dispatched to a business in the 100 block of Samuel Street, which is in the same area of the original incident. Reports indicated that a male in a dark hoodie was running from a vehicle that had been broken into. Police were unable to locate the suspect. Tools valued between $700.00-$800.00 had been stolen from the vehicle.

Vice Conduct Search

The Sarnia Police Vice Unit, with the assistance of Uniform Patrol, executed a drug warrant in the 200 block of Trudeau Drive last night.

Just before 10:00 p.m. April 13, 2015 officer entered the home and found one person present. During the search four people showed up to the home, including the residents. The search revealed evidence of trafficking along with hydromorphone and dilaudid pills. The pills have a street value of approximately $620.00.

The two residents have been charged. The first is a 39 year old male charged with possession of a controlled substance and breaching bail, the other person is a 29 year old female charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Impaired Driver

Date: April 14, 2015

At approximately 2:30 a.m. Tuesday April 14, 2015 a Sarnia Police patrol officer pulled into a restaurant parking lot in the 1100 block of London Road when he was flagged down by a citizen. The officer was directed to a vehicle parked in the lot with a female driver who the citizen believed to be intoxicated. Officers spoke to the 42 year old female and requested that she provide a sample of her breath. The sample registered a fail on the roadside screening device and she was taken to the police station to provide a sample into the Intoxilyzer. This sample indicated the woman was two times the legal limit to drive a vehicle.

Gail Slaughter of Sarnia has been charged with operating a motor vehicle over the legal limit.

Weekend Impaired Drivers

Sarnia Police service arrested two people for impaired driving over the weekend.

The first arrest occurred on Saturday April 11, just after 2:00 a.m. when officers responded to a single vehicle collision at Indian Road and Maxwell Street. When officers arrived they found a truck that had struck a pole and the driver was nearby. When the driver was approached he ran but was caught and arrested. The male was transported to the police station to provide samples of his breath. Breath test indicated the male was almost twice the legal limit. A small amount of suspected marihuana was also located in the truck.

Kyle Lubbers, age 25 years, of Sarnia has been charged with impaired operation, fail to remain and possession of a controlled substance.

The second incident took place on Sunday April 12 at about 2:30 a.m. on Campbell Street. A 25 year old male left a drinking establishment on Campbell Street in an SUV. As he left the parking lot he struck a curb and continued westbound until Mitton Street where he made a left turn which is a dead-end. The driver struck a chain-link fence at the end of the street leaving the front license plate stuck to the fence. The driver then left the scene and drove back to the drinking establishment where he was detained by staff until police arrived. The man was arrested and taken to the police station for a breath test. Samples of his breath indicated he was two and a half times the legal limit to drive.

Christopher Douglas, age 23 years, from Sarnia has been charged with impaired driving, driving over the legal limit, fail to remain and careless driving.
