Impaired Driver Arrested

By Constable Les Jones on August 10th, 2015 | Posted in Daily Media Releases

Broadcast time: 7:58 a.m.

Date: August 10, 2015

Just after 1:00 a.m. on Sunday August 9, 2015 Sarnia Police received a call from a citizen about a car speeding on London Road. An officer was at London Road and Mitton Street at the time running radar and noted the car was travelling almost 40 kilometers over the speed limit. The vehicle was stopped and when the officer approached the 26 year old male driver the officer observed what he believed to be marihuana and that the driver had been drinking alcohol. The male was arrested and requested to provide a sample of his breath into a Roadside Screening Device. The sample indicated a fail and the man was transported to the Sarnia Police Station to provide further breath samples which indicated the man was one and a half times the legal limit to drive.

Dustin Matthews of Sarnia is charged with driving over the legal limit and possession of a controlled substance.
