Impaired Driver

On December 27, 2014 at about 3:00 a.m. Sarnia Police arrested a 23 year old Michigan man for refusing to provide a breath sample.

A Sarnia Police Service Patrol Sergeant drove into the parking lot of a drinking establishment on Murphy Road and noticed a man he had dealt with about one hour earlier behind the wheel of a car. The man had been told one hour earlier that he needed to take a taxi home because of his alcohol consumption. The man was read a demand to provide a sample into a roadside device. The man refused the request several times and was arrested for his refusal. Because he is a Michigan resident he was initially held for a bail hearing and released later the same day. His Michigan drivers license was also suspended.

Roland William SMITH of Ypsilanti Michigan has been charged with refusing to provide a breath sample.

December 19th Vice Unit Arrests

A 47 year old Sarnia man is in custody awaiting a bail hearing after he was arrested by Sarnia Police Vice Unit officers on December 19, 2014. His arrest was followed by the execution of a Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) search warrant at his residence in the 200 block of South Mitton Street.

As a result of the arrest and search, police located over 10 grams of cocaine, approximately 17 grams of hashish and .5 grams of cannabis resin. The total street value of the seized drugs is $1160.00.

The male is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cannabis resin and possession of hashish.

Also on December 19, 2014 members of the Vice and COPPS unit conducted a vehicle stop which resulted in the arrest of a 45 year old Sarnia man and a 23 year old Sarnia woman. Their arrest was also followed by the execution of a CDSA search warrant in the 900 Block of Exmouth Street.

As a result of the arrest of the male and female and subsequent search of the residence, the following items were found:

  • Concealed knife blades
  • A flick knife
  • A 12 gauge pump action shot gun hanging from a wall
  • Shot gun shells and .22 calibre bullets
  • Crack cocaine, total street value of $460
  • Cannabis marihuana, street value of $50.00
  • A baseball bat with spikes protruding from the thick end, located hidden inside a sectional couch in the living room

The male, currently awaiting a bail hearing, faces a total of nine charges related to the incident which include: possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marihuana, careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and carry concealed weapons.

The female, who was released from custody on an officer-in-charge release, has been charged with possession of cocaine.

Sarnia Police Service answered 127 calls for service from Friday December 19 through to December 22, 2014. Officers also conducted 12 traffic stops for various traffic violations. A total of 5 people were arrested over the weekend. The 127 calls include:

Missing Person

The Sarnia Police Service continues to investigate a 57 year old missing male. Donald Feddes has not been seen or heard from in almost two years. Police have been investigating the occurrence since November 2013.

Feddes has always been employed as a truck driver. As a result, he has not maintained a residence nor does he have friends in the area.

FEDDES is approximately 5’7, 150 pounds with a slim build. He has blue eyes and the tip of his right index finger is missing. He has light brown, greying hair and usually has a moustache which is all grey. FEDDES is believed to frequent truck stops.

Second Annual Cram a Cruiser

On the December 13, 2014 the Sarnia Police Service held its annual Be a Holiday Hero and Cram a Cruiser. The organizer Constable Jordan Laird and a number of other assisting officers felt it was another great success and would like to thank also those who donated gifts for the Children of Sarnia Lambton.

It is believed that enough toys were donated that approximately 130 deserving children throughout Sarnia Lambton will receive gifts this Christmas.

Missing female and child located by Sarnia Police Service

Ms. Hardy and her son have been located by police. Both mother and child are fine.

MISSING FEMALE AND CHILD

The Sarnia Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a missing 32 year old female “Stephanie HARDY” and her 3 year old son “Matthew CHOPP” from the Sarnia area. Both HARDY and CHOPP have been missing since Thursday December 11, 2014 and needs to be located to check on her and her son’s wellbeing.

 

HARDY may be operating or travelling in a Motor Vehicle: 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV, blue in color, Ontario Plates “BVSF145″.

Vice Unit Executes 2 Warrants

The Sarnia Police Service Vice Unit conducted an investigation that lead to them requesting 2 separate warrants. One for a residence in the 600 block of Indian Road and another for a storage locker in the village of Point Edward, in relation to the same investigation.

At approximately 3:40 pm on December 11th, 2014 in the city of Sarnia, members of the Sarnia Police Vice Unit and Sarnia Police COPPS Unit executed the 2 warrants. During the search of the different locations the following were found:

  1. 60 grams of methamphetamine were seized with an approximate street value of $7000.00
  2. 400 morphine pills (15mg each) with a total street value of $6000.00
  3. Approximately 76 grams of marihuana with an approximate street value of $760.00
  4. Approximately 2 grams of psilocyloim mushroom with an approximate street value of $20.00
  5. Approximately 10 grams of cannabis resin with an approximate street value of $10.00

The total street value of the drugs seized was $13,850.00. Also seized was approximately $2787.00 in Canadian currency and $170.00 in US currency.

Arrested was a 49 year old man and a 22 year old female on 3 charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and 2 counts of just possession of a controlled substance each. Both were held for a bail hearing later this date.

Also arrested was a 26 year old female who was charged and released on 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance.
