Contacting the Sarnia Police
When to call 911
If you require or witness something that requires immediate assistance you are asked to dial 911 for police, fire, or ambulance. These types of calls involve the potential for injury or loss of life or property.
Examples of when to dial 911 include:
1) Break and Enters or audible alarms in progress
2) Assaults that are in progress
3) Disturbances with fights
4) Domestic and Family disputes in progress
5) Impaired drivers that are currently driving
6) Missing person
7) Suicidal person
8) Fires in progress
9) Medical emergencies
When to call 519-344-8861 and then dial extension 0
Other incidents that do not require an immediate response are to be reported by calling 519-344-8861 and then dialing extension 0 or Online Reporting. These matters would not involve imminent harm or loss of life or property and don’t meet the criteria of Online Reporting. You may also be transferred to the ARU and speak to an officer regarding these type of incidences who take the report.

1) Abandoned vehicles
2) Animal complaints
3) Assaults after the fact
4) Break and Enters after the fact
5) Mischief
6) Stolen vehicle after the fact
7) Person welfare checks
8) Noise complaints
9) Domestic and Family disputes not in progress
10) Found property
11) Shoplifter
