Sarnia Police have been contacted by a number of citizens reporting that they have received phone calls from someone who identify themselves as Microsoft IT staff. They further advise people that they may have a virus problem with their computer. The victims are asked to log onto their computer which is believed to give the suspect remote access to information on the victim’s computer, including personal data.
Citizens are reminded to be very cautious when dealing with this type of situation over the telephone, particularly when they haven’t initiated the contact!
Also, beward of high pressure, door-to-door sale people. Do not buy the prodcut if you do not need it. Never let them in your home. Never let them know you live alone.
