POSITION:   Court Security Officer
SALARY:    Category 4 – Current Civilian Collective Agreement

Summary of Position

Providing Court Security as required by provincial legislation including:

  • Transporting all prisoners within the Provincial Court buildings, to and from Court; receiving all new prisoners from various courts; performing proper search procedures and ensuring the safety of all persons.
  • Serving of summonses and subpoenas from out of town police agencies.
  • Affecting the arrest of individuals within the court house with or without warrant and preparing associated reports.
  • Assist sworn police officers with prisoner escorts.
  • All other duties as required.

Essential Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively with members of the Police Service, the public, other agencies and the judiciary.
  • Must be physically fit and able to pass Police Fitness Pin test.
  • Must meet Ontario Association of Chief’s of Police medical and psychological standards
  • Must be able to pass Use of Force Training
  • Must be able to maintain Special Constable status
  • Must possess valid Driver’s Licence
  • Positive work and attendance record
  • Valid OACP certificate

Desirable Qualifications

  • Must be dependable, resourceful and demonstrate a co-operative attitude and good interpersonal skills
  • Diploma in Law & Security, Police Foundations or related discipline
  • Previous experience in security or police fields will be considered
