In 2005, in an effort to reduce the chances of citizens becoming victims of identity theft, Constable Ken McLachlin started the annual event called “Shred It.”

The 11th Annual Shred It Event will be held on Saturday May 14th, 2016.

During the 2015 event 228 people attended and dropped off 8,844 pounds of documents to be shredded. Over the past ten years 1778 people have taken advantage of this event and 64,646 pounds of documents have been shredded.

This annual event assists in reducing fraud and identity theft crimes in our community. The Service would also like to thank our community partners; the Shred It Company and Walmart who help make this event possible.

Last year volunteers collected donations towards the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. People attending the Shred It Event graciously donated a total of $702.00 to assist with the 2015 games.
