On September 17, 2019, at approximately 11:45 pm, officers from the Sarnia Police Service responded to a vehicle that had collided with a fire hydrant at the intersection of Murphy Road and Afton Drive. A witness had observed the vehicle before the collision driving at a high rate of speed and all over the road.
Fortunately no one sustained injuries secondary to the collision.
As the investigation continued the officer formed grounds to arrest the suspected driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The accused was transported to the station where he supplied samples of breath into an Intoxilyzer 8000C before a qualified breath technician. The accused failed the tests.
Subsequent to the tests the accused Joshua Valenti, 21 years of age, of Sarnia, has been charged with operation of a motor vehicle and blood concentration of 80 plus.
