The 2nd annual Cause for Paws, a pet food drive for The Inn of The Good Shepherd, has brought community forces together in our community.
The Sarnia Police Service and Sarnia Fire Rescue Services have partnered to collect donations of unopened dog and cat food. During the month of March, pet food donors can visit the Sarnia Police Station at 555 Christina St. N. and Sarnia Fire Hall 240 East St. N. to contribute to the Cause for Paws.
The Inn of The Good Shepherd provides pet food (when available) to those pet owners living in poverty. “Pets have an amazing role in humans’ emotional and physical health- people who live in poverty struggle with isolation and loneliness that often their pet is the only bright spot in their life. And the ability to have access to this unconditional love should not be based on income”, says Alan Stevenson CEO Canadian Mental Health Association Sarnia Lambton Kent.
The Inn of The Good Shepherd provides service with dignity to those in need of food and shelter and other essential services. The Inn provides food to over 1800 individuals monthly who use the food bank. Over 3000 meals are served monthly by soup kitchen volunteer teams.
