Confederation Street was closed earlier today between Trudeau Drive and Murphy Road in response to a suspicious package believed to be a possible explosive device at an address in the 1200 block of Confederation Street.
The initial call came in at approximately 6:40 AM by an employee of the establishment who had attended to open up the building.
As a result of an abundance of caution, the Sarnia Police Service contained the area and contacted the Ontario Provincial Police Bomb Squad to deal with the matter.
The item was deemed safe by the OPP Bomb Squad but a further investigation into what the device was is still ongoing.
The roads re-opened at approximately 12:40 PM and we would like to thank the public for their patience.
