On October 30, 2022, at approximately 2:00 PM, the driver of a vehicle turned into the entrance of an address in the 1300 block of London Road. In doing so the driver struck a cyclist crossing the entrance on the sidewalk.
After striking the cyclist the car travelled through the parking lot attempting to flee the area. Fortunately, two witnesses in motor vehicles were able to pin the vehicle in, preventing it from leaving the area and in turn called the police.
Once officers arrived the accused was required to provide a sample of breath into an approved road side screening device and as a result the device registered a fail.
Subsequently, the accused was taken into custody and transported to the station to supply a sample of breath into an Intoxilyzer. The results of the testing indicated that the accused was approximately three times over the legal limit.
The accused, Wesley Adam Irvine, 26 years of age, of Sarnia faces the following charges:
The accused in this matter was held for a bail hearing.
The cyclist was taken to hospital and was treated for serious injuries
