At approximately 9:50 AM, on April 27, 2012, an officer was conducting radar in the area of Vidal Street and St. Clair Street. The officer observed a vehicle travelling at a very high rate of speed and once the radar was activated it was determined that the car was travelling 102 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone.
The officer immediately activated his lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the suspect vehicle. At this time, the vehicle continued and attempted to accelerate away from the officer while driving in a dangerous manner. The driver lost control, failing to stop for a stop sign, and struck the curb, which damaged the vehicle and caused it to be inoperable.
The officer was able to arrest the accused without any further incident. It was also determined that the driver’s licence was currently suspended.
As a result, Drew James Wale, 25 years of age, of Courtright, faces the following charges.
As well, the vehicle has been impounded for 14 days.
