Annual Purple Ribbon Campaign

May 15, 2013

Most people never equate impaired driving with boating, but impaired boating is not only just as illegal as driving a vehicle impaired, it’s just as deadly.

According MADD Canada, about 40% of Canada’s estimated 150 boating fatalities each year are alcohol-related.

On Wednesday, May 15 at 10 a.m., at the Sarnia Bay Marina, the Lambton Drug Awareness Action Committee (LDAAC), in partnership with Bridgeview Yachting Centre, will launch its annual Purple Ribbon Campaign with a focus on impaired boating and water safety. The campaign, which runs May 15-June 1, begins prior to the Victoria Day weekend, the unofficial start of summer.
