On June 18, 2022, at approximately 1:30 AM, a vehicle rear-end another vehicle in the area of Campbell Street and Sutton Street. Fortunately, there were no injuries. As officers arrived and conducted their investigation grounds were formed to arrest the driver of one of the vehicles for impaired operation
The accused was transported back to Sarnia Police Headquarters and samples of breath were taken to determine the amount of alcohol in the accused’s blood. As a result of the testing it was determined that the individual had over the legal limit of alcohol in their blood.
Austin Robert Lapointe-Hall, 21 years of age, of Sarnia, faces one count of impaired operation by alcohol and one count of having a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
On June 19, 2022, at approximately 1:20 AM, the suspect vehicle was southbound on Front Street and struck a parked vehicle in the area of Wellington Street causing significant damage. The suspect vehicle attempted to leave the area but due to the extent of damage did not make it far.
The driver then fled the vehicle on foot but thanks to witnesses was located a short while later and taken into custody by police. A demand was made for the accused to supply a sample of breath to a qualified breath technician but ultimately refused.
The accused, Zakri Roger Vaillancourt, 24 years of age, of Sarnia, faces one count of refusal to comply with a demand and one count of failing to remain at the scene of a collision.
On June 20, 2022, at approximately 1:30 AM, an officer on general patrol was immediately behind a vehicle that was observed to have been swerving between lanes. The officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Maxwell Street and Capel Street to confirm the driver’s sobriety. A demand was made for a roadside alcohol-screening device to be administered and as a result a fail was registered.
In turn the accused was transported to the station and tested on the Breathalyzer by a qualified breath technician. Testing indicated that the accused was over the legal limit.
Nicholas David Stuckey, 35 years of age, of Corunna, faces one count of impaired operation by alcohol and one count of having a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
In each of the above incidents the accuseds’ licences were suspended for 90 days and their vehicles were impounded for 7 days.
