On June 6, 2022 around 9:00 PM, the Sarnia Police Service received a traffic complaint about a potentially impaired driver in the area of Walmart. Police were able to locate the vehicle and made observations of the vehicle and the driver’s ability to operate it which were consistent with them being impaired. Police were able to safely stop the vehicle at the intersection of Pontiac Drive and London Road; however, prior to the officer being able to speak to the driver, she maneuvered her car around the police car that had pulled in front of her and attempted to flee the scene. The female driver turned west onto London Road and began to drift across the lanes of traffic, striking a different police cruiser that was stopped in the middle of the road with their lights activated.
No injuries were sustained as a result of the collision that brought the vehicle to a stop. A 24-year-old female was arrested for Impaired Operation and Flight from Police. She provided breath samples that were in excess of three times the legal limit. The female now faces charges of Impaired Operation, Operation with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus and flight from police. She was released from police custody and will appear in court in July.
