Broadcast time:
10:05 PM

Date: February 22, 2021

On February 18, 2021, the Sarnia Police Service received a complainant from a witness regarding an individual leaving a fast food eating establishment located on London Road who appeared to be impaired while driving.

The driver was observed acting peculiar and driving over the curb when leaving the restaurant. Shortly thereafter, at approximately 12:20 PM, officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle, with the assistance of the witness, in the area of Bradford Drive and Murphy Road. The suspect vehicle was observed travelling under the posted speed and unable to remain in its lane of travel.

At first the vehicle refused to stop but fortunately the officer was able to complete the traffic stop without incident.

Upon interacting with the suspect driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, it became obvious that the driver was impaired and was subsequently arrested.

The accused was then brought before a qualified Drug Recognition Expert to be evaluated.

Upon completion of the evaluation, Gregory Ernest Burns, 35 years of age, of Sarnia was charged with impaired operation while impaired by drug and also received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension.
