Male Arrested on Breaches Faces Other Serious Charges

On May 6, 2022, at approximately 9:30 PM, a Sarnia Police Constable observed a male known to him, who was on curfew conditions to be in his residence between the hours of 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM, driving a motor vehicle. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle driven by the accused in the area of Maxwell Street and Indian Road.

The accused was taken into custody without incident due to the breaches. As a result of a search the officer located drug paraphernalia, a hatchet between the driver’s seat and door, a spring load baton, and a canister of pepper spray (intended for dogs).

Also located was:

1. $3140.00 in Canadian currency
2. 59.4 grams of Psilocybin mushrooms (magic mushrooms), with an approximate street value of $890
3. 65.4 grams of methamphetamine with an approximate street value of $6540
4. 20.8 grams of blue fentanyl with an approximate street value of $4160

As a result of this investigation Leslie William Hawkins, 45 years of age, of Sarnia, faces the following charges:

1. Five counts of failing to comply with release order
2. Three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
3. Four counts of possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order
4. Three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
5. Two counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon

At his time Leslie Hawkins remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
