Member of The Public Comes to Police Officer’s Aid

Broadcast time:
1:45 PM

Date: August 5, 2022

On August 4, 2022, at approximately 3:00 PM, an employee confronted an individual who was smoking and acting erratically at the entrance to a store located on Quinn Drive.

The employee told the female she could not enter the store, as the accused was smoking, at which point the female punched the employee in the face and then left the store.

Police when then called and located the accused still in the area. The officer approached the accused and advised her that she was under arrest for assault. At this point the accused became combative towards the officer, who was alone, as an attempt was made to arrest her.

Thankfully, a passerby saw the commotion and rendered assistance to the officer. As a result, the accused was taken into custody with no further incident or injury.

The accused, 30 year old Kelsey Lynn Saar, of Sarnia, faces one count of assault and one count of resisting a peace officer. She remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

The Sarnia Police Service and the officer would like to thank the good Samaritan who rendered their assistance.

Working together, as a community, ensures the safety and well-being of all.
