A 32-year-old woman from Sarnia was arrested early yesterday morning for Impaired Driving.
On the 15th of March, 2020 shortly after 2 am, a Sarnia Police Officer observed a motor vehicle cross Confederation Street southbound from Ontario Street at a high rate of speed before entering a dealership in the 700 block of Confederation Street.
The driver was initially travelling eastbound on Ontario Street and failed to make the slight bend in the roadway just before Confederation Street causing her vehicle to leave the roadway and enter the parking lot at 756 Ontario Street. The vehicle continued southbound crossing a grass boulevard, entering Confederation Street and crossing all four lanes of traffic. The vehicle then crossed the south boulevard before entering the parking lot of the dealership on Confederation Street. As a result, the vehicle collided with a wooden utility pole and 7 parked cars causing extensive damage.
After an investigation by the witnessing officer, the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Driving and transported to the Sarnia Police Station for breath tests where she registered readings over 3 times the legal limit.
The driver suffered no injuries in the collision. However, a passenger in the motor vehicle was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
As a result, Ashley Lynn Wismer was charged with Operate Conveyance While Impaired and Operate Conveyance with 80mg or More of Alcohol in 100ml of Blood. She has since been released on an undertaking.
