Officers Seize Body Armor, Ammunition, and Drugs As Result of Warrant

On November 19, 2022, members of the Sarnia Police Service Vice Unit, with the assistance of the Sarnia Police Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Christina Street South at approximately 4:05 PM. Officers were attempting to locate a firearm that was allegedly in the possession of the accused, illegally.

Officers made entry into the unit without incident and were able to locate the accused who attempted to hide from police.

A search of the unit located:

  1. 25.55 grams of cocaine
  2. 33.71 grams of fentanyl
  3. 11.60 grams of crystal methamphetamine
  4. A Ziploc bag containing five rounds of .22 caliber ammunition
  5. A gun safe
  6. Body armor

The total street value of drugs seized is approximately $9,545.25.

As a result, Richard Paul Meloche, 33 years of age, of Sarnia, faces the following charges:

  1. Three counts of possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking
  2. One count of possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
  3. Three counts of failing to comply with a release order

Richard Meloche remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

An arrest warrant has also been requested for a 28-year-old female related to drug trafficking charges.
