This level of record check is the most in-depth check offered by the Sarnia Police Service.
It is ONLY for applicants in a position of power or authority over vulnerable persons.
The Criminal Records Act defines a vulnerable person as: a person who, because of his or her age, a disability or other circumstances, whether temporary or permanent,
(a) is in a position of dependency on others; or
(b) is otherwise at a greater risk than the general population of being harmed by a person in a position of trust or authority towards them.
This generally (but not always) refers to children, medically fragile or the elderly.
Regardless of the wishes of the applicant or employer, this record check cannot be completed if the applicant does not meet this definition.
This record check contains criminal convictions, outstanding charges currently before Criminal Court, some judicial orders, recent absolute and conditional discharges and a check against the RCMP Pardoned Sex Offender Database.
