On June 4th 2021, the Ontario Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was contacted by the Sarnia Police Service (SPS) regarding criminal allegations involving an officer. The SIU subsequently investigated and laid criminal charges against Constable Christopher Noordam who has been suspended from duty since August 26, 2021. Police Services Act disciplinary proceedings were initiated but deferred pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings.
On August 4th 2022, Christopher Noordam pled guilty to Breach of Trust in the Ontario Court of Justice. Upon that criminal conviction being entered, disciplinary proceedings under the Police Services Act (PSA) were initiated. The provisions of the PSA require a hearing process occur prior to any determination of penalty that may impact employment status.
Effective November 1, 2022, Christopher Noordam has voluntarily resigned from the Sarnia Police Service. He is no longer a police officer nor employed by the Sarnia Police Service in any capacity. As a result of his resignation, all Police Act proceedings are concluded and no further comments will be provided.
