Earlier this morning an initial news release was put out regarding two south east Asian females going door to door, selling chocolates for some unknown charity in the Philippines, and they were associated to a black SUV. There were also concerns that they may be linked to some criminal activity.
Members of the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigation Branch have looked into the matter further and determined that these individuals and other affiliates have been stopped by police in various cities and towns across the province. From the information gathered it appears that these individuals were indeed selling chocolates for a charity. No evidence of any crime being committed was ever found.
We truly appreciate everyone’s concern in this matter and thank the public for their assistance which allowed us to gather further information to investigate the matter. We just ask that when accessing information through social media, such as this, to please take the time to confirm the information. It is wise to show concern but please do not instill fear especially if the information has not verified. Rather, if you do witness something that you are concerned about please contact the police or have the person who witnessed it contact the police.
