On January 31, 2021, at approximately 6:15 PM, a vehicle driving westbound on London Line in the area of Brigden Side Road and was driven into the ditch and landed on its side. Sarnia Fire was required to extract the driver who was trapped inside and was the only occupant.
The driver was checked by Lambton Paramedics who determined that he did not sustain any sort of significant injuries.
As officers investigated the matter further and spoke with the driver it was determined that he would be arrested for impaired operation. The accused was taken into custody and transported to the Sarnia Police Station to supply a sample of breath into an Intoxilyzer Instrument.
Once the testing was completed, by the Breath Technician, it was determined that the accused was three times over the legal limit.
The accused, Matthew Almeida, 33 years of age, of Marthaville, faces the following charges:
Almedia’s first appearance in court will be on March 30, 2021, for 9:30 AM, at the Sarnia Lambton Court House located at 700 Christina Street North. Almedia’s driver licence is under a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for 7-days.
